Bronze I Salver – Winners 2024
It was a struggle to find sufficient players to field a team for the first round of the competition which commenced on Friday, 28 June. A few players who indicated that they were willing to play were still competing in the final round of the Bronze II competition. I am grateful to those who offered to fill in for the first game at Muirfield defeating Bankstown 4.5/0.5.
Carnarvon Golf Club was scheduled to be the Host Club for Friday, 5 July. Due to heavy rain the course was closed and games cancelled.
Killara Golf Club was the Host Club for the following week with the course closed for most of the week prior Game day it was a very soggy and slippery course for players. They were defeated by Muirfield 4/1.
The following week at Oatlands the team defeated Killara 5/0. Week 5 at Ryde-Parramatta resulted in a 4/1 win against Oatlands. Week six of the competition was North Ryde’s turn to Host and so North Ryde did not compete on the day.
The final round played at Bankstown Golf Club, on Friday, 9 August, Carnarvon, Muirfield and North Ryde were all in a strong position to win the Pennant.
It was perfect golfing weather for the players resulting in a wonderful win for the North Ryde team by defeating Carnarvon 4/1 and winning the Pennant. Muirfield were runners up and Carnarvon finished in third place.
Congratulations team, you were all so enthusiastic both at practice and play.
