Weekly Course Update
What a great couple of weeks weather we have had, starting with some much needed rainfall starting on Thursday and finishing on Saturday for a total of 84 mm, filling the dams and setting the course up nicely for spring. Early spring water usage is always high with all greens and tee renovations plus extensive fertilising of fairways and roughs, along with pesticide applications which all require large amounts of irrigation to wash in the products, so I could not have asked for better timing for last week’s rain.
Spring greens and tee renovations were completed this week, perfect weather conditions have helped produce excellent results, the tee’s will be top-dressed once the fertiliser kicks in and some good growth occurs. First cut of the greens will be on Monday at 4.0 mm, the cutting height will be back down to our normal mowing height of 3.0 mm by Friday.
Two large bare areas in the rough between the 5th and 7th fairways have been rotary hoed to relieve compaction and new turf laid, also the area on either side of the photinia hedge at the 2nd tee has been turfed plus around the 11th fairway bunker area.
